    • GAD Motors releases 885+ lb-ft of torque capable Getrag 7DCL750 DCT transmission upgrade - AMG GT, GTS, GTR, SLS, Ferrari 458, 488, California, California T

Many of us wondered how GAD Motors kept the transmission together in their record setting C190 Mercedes-AMG GT S which recently ran 9.79 @ 146.71 in the 1/4 mile. Not to mention some of their other dual clutch cars such as their twin turbo SLS AMG.

Well, it turns out they have Getrag 7CL750 DCT transmission upgrades. This is a popular performance dual clutch transmission:

The 7CL750 is said to be good for 790 newton-meters according to Getrag which works out to 582 lb-ft of torque. Tuners regularly exceed this figure so it is conservative.

That said, GAD is able to upgrade the transmission to handle 1200Nm+ or 885+ lb-ft of torque.

This applies to the following cars:

      FERRARI
      California
      California Turbo
      458 Italia
      488GTB

      MERCEDES-AMG
      SLS AMG
      SLS AMG Black Series
      AMG GT
      AMG GTS
      AMG GTR

In theory the Ford GT should apply as well.

Now how much is this upgrade? Can US customers get it? Is GAD Motors shipping it? All good questions.

The details provided were in German so please take that into account with the Google translation:

By increasing the power and increasing the torque, it is a great effort to convert the power into propulsion for most transmission and clutch systems.

In the 7DCL750 (7-speed dual-clutch transmission) as the name implies, the clutch is designed by the manufacturer for 750Nm + about 20% safety / reserve but it is at just under 900Nm at the absolute limit!

Reaching the limit is noticeable to the driver in that the switching times are longer, the engine revs up and the speed does not change.

In particularly severe cases with excessive speed differences, the safety system switches to emergency operation and switches off the clutch!

Since modern, supercharged engines are an easy way to beat those values, GAD-Motors has tackled the transmission and developed a reinforced clutch and software.

This allows higher torques to be transmitted with shorter switching times.

The GAD-Motor specially developed for the 7DCL750 coupling allows the transmission of over 1000Nm without activating the safety reserves.

At full load, the clutch generated by GAD-Motors can withstand up to 1200Nm by selecting special materials and mechanical reinforcement.
It is good to know dual clutch Mercedes-AMG models as well as dual clutch Ferraris have an upgrade path.

Maybe they'll tell us how much...

Plus I seriously doubt Dodson won't get in this market.

Not even bad at this level.
